Isabella and Sophia

These two dolls were inspired by the fairytales and stories I've been reading to my granddaughter. There is a chance, that I've enjoyed the stories a little more than Sibile, who is 8 months old (giggle).

Sophia and her little sister Isabella was born and raised in small village. They were roaming around freely in magical forests, befriending deers, squirrels and chipmunks and picking berries. These two little sisters are very happy to have each other. Sophia is always very caring of Isabella and looks after her.

Every evening before sleep little Isabella is asking Sophia to read a fairytale. She is a little dreamer with the most impressive imagination. Her favourite fairytales are about princesses and kings and she always secretly wanted to look a little like one. Who am I not to make her wishes come true? 😊

I made little tulle dresses for both of the girls. Lovely dusty pink tones suit them really nicely. Isabella has a felted heart on her top while Sophia's top has little pockets.

Even though Isabella's dress is extra cute, I decided to make her another outfit. I love sewing little panties or dungarees for some of my dolls. Usually it is when I see that their personality is too lively and they need to feel comfortable running around. Big pockets is a must - Isabella will definitely want to put pines and acorns there.

Sophia is bright and caring - best older sister indeed. She is one of those gentle souls - very fond of animals and nature. I took the girls to see first snow at the beach! It was magical and really beautiful. There is nothing more magical than the expression of someone who sees snowflakes slowly falling down for the first time.

You must be wondering what is the deal with Sophia's cute ears. The truth is there was a New Year celebration at the local forest, attended by all the their friends - deers, mice, rabbits and squirrels. Sophia asked me to make her something for that occasion and of course ears looked most appropriate for such a company.

I wanted Sophia to stay cozy during the Holiday season as we spend a lot of time at home, drinking teas near the fireplace. I made her a cute striped pj's set. I think she looks extra adorable in it.

Both dolls are around 50cm (19 inches tall). Their head, torso and legs are needle felted and sculpted so it is very firm but soft. The outer fabric is high quality jersey from Netherlands. Their face is sculpted (needle felted) as well. Eyes are embroidered with cotton floss. Lips and cheeks are blushed with beeswax. Arms are freely hanging. Dolls have joint skeleton so her neck torso and legs can be moved and bend. There is no metal or sharp details used in it.  Dolls hair is made of mohair. It needs to be handled gently. The doll is free standing. She is collectible.
